Acquiring IT skills has become a necessity in recent years, with an ever-growing interest in learning computer science at a young age, while also making the time spent in front of a screen as meaningful as possible. The goal of our Programming Camp is to introduce children and teenagers to the world of coding in a playful, interactive and fun way, as well as getting them started on a journey that doesn't end when the camp does, by showing them where and how to continue practicing what they have learned.
During programming classes, our younger students (7 to 12 year-old campers) learn the basic rules of coding and algorithmic thinking through games and puzzles, solving problems without even realizing their great complexity. For this, we use the Scratch and Code.org platforms, which teach programming through visual exercises, designed specifically for young learners. Our older students (13 to 17 year-old campers) get to solve more advanced programming problems, write simple programs or even basic applications.
The classes are held Mondays through Fridays, in groups based on age and skill level, led by our Computer Science teacher. You may choose programming for 4 hours a day in an intense form, or for only 2 hours a day combined with another class of your choice for the other 2 hours. Your second class may be one of our languages, sports or arts classes (see the full list of available camp combinations below), while the afternoons and evenings are filled with exciting free time activities, different every day and every week (learn more about our great free time activities below).
Please note: children must be able to read confidently to attend this class. Otherwise, we recommend our robotics camp, where reading is less of a requirement.
This program also provides is a great introduction into our new afterschool programming and robotics courses, beginning in the autumn of 2017.
